Dear Regional Intermediaries,
As you may know by now, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in the Northern District of California issued the court order requiring the Census Bureau to continue the enumeration process through October 31, 2020. The U.S. Department of Justice already filed a notice today that they are appealing the order to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. If the appeal is successful and the order is overturned, the deadline could be changed to an earlier date in October.
IDHS will continue to monitor the legal process. In the meanwhile, we want to assess the available resources and interest among Regional Intermediaries and your subs so determine if census outreach activities funded by the state may continue beyond September 30, 2020. We have a short survey below that we would like to ask for you to complete by close of business Monday, September 28.
If you are assigned to more than one region, please complete one survey per region indicating the region after the organization name in the space provided i.e. Illinois Association of Community Action Agency-Suburban .
Note: Census outreach activities include community education, direct engagement and questionnaire assistance services. It does not include administrative expenses (such as compiling program and fiscal reports, etc.) related to management of the census program by the sub-recipient or the regional intermediary.
