Minutes

  1. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 9:32 a.m.
  2. Roll Call
Chairman Rick Velasquez, Jacqueline Bullard, Rodney Ahitow.  Guests: Stephanie Vetter, Susan Witkin, Peg Robertson, and Kristen Garfield-Gentile.  Staff: Julie Stremlau, Karima Douglas and Angelica Jimenez.
  3. Approval of Minutes
Commissioner Ahitow motioned to approve the minutes from September 13, 2016. Commissioner Bullard seconded the motion. Minutes approved.
  4. Chair's Comments
Chairman Velasquez explained that the purpose of today's meeting is to complete the review of the draft MOU. Once members provide their feedback on the draft, the Committee will discuss the steps of the implementation strategy and arrive at an agreed plan from the JDAI Committee of execution of said strategy.
  5. JDAI Site MOU Draft
Following up from the September 13 meeting, Angelica and Karima shared a revised draft MOU with the committee members. Committee members reviewed the changes and proposed additional changes. Karima informed the committee that Angie, Susan and Stephanie are scheduling conference calls with the JDAI sites to distribute and discuss the six-month data report, draft MOU for JDAI sites to enter into, and the JDAI Annual Results report due on November 23.
After the Committee provided their input on additional revisions to be made, a copy of the draft will be circulated among the committee members electronically. Because the JDAI site calls are being scheduled over the next three weeks, there is a 24 to 48-hour turnaround time for members to submit any further revisions to the MOU. After that phase is completed, the MOU will be distributed to members of the Juvenile Justice Council's Executive Committee for their review and approval before introducing those documents to the JDAI sites during their calls.
  6. Next Meeting
    November 1, 2016.
  7. New Business
    None Noted.
  8. Adjourn
Chairman Velasquez motioned to adjourn. Commissioner Bullard seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
