FIRE ALARM PROCEDURES - §1402.47 (b)(7)(ii)

Each room has a diagram posted with two routes shown in different colors - the main route and an alternate, in case the main route is blocked by fire.


Classroom ___________ (pre-school and toddlers)

  • Teachers gather children near the door. One teacher sweeps the room and grabs the attendance clipboard. Teachers, one in front and one behind, guide the children out of the room and out the first exit route unless it is blocked by flames or smoke. If it is, use the alternate exit route. (See evacuation route diagrams posted.) Lead children out of the building to the ___________________________________________________________________________. Call the roll. If any child is missing, notify the director and the firemen, if they are there, immediately. Don't re-enter the building.


Classroom __________ (infants)

  • Teachers place all babies in the evacuation crib. One teacher sweeps the room and grabs the attendance clipboard. Pushing the crib, evacuate by the first exit route. If it appears unsafe, use the second route. (See evacuation route diagram posted.) Take the children to the meeting place, ______________________________________________________________________________________________.


Call roll. If any child is missing, tell the director and firemen immediately. Don't re-enter the building.


Kitchen

  • Turn off the stove and/or oven.
  • Exit by the safest route. (See evacuation route diagram posted.)
  • Meet children at ______________________________________________


Office

  • _____________________________ or ______________________ calls 911.
  • Exit by following the diagrammed route. Director sweeps the office area.
