Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) Revised Classroom Curriculum

The purpose of this Informational Bulletin is to notify Division of Developmental Disabilities stakeholders throughout the service delivery system of the revisions to the Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) training classroom curriculum. The changes to the QIDP classroom training curriculum is for agencies that adopted the IDHS QIDP classroom curriculum.

Process and Procedures

The QIDP training curriculum encourages additional tailored supplemental agency specific information and population served in order to enhance skills needed by QIDPs.  

As in the past, any information that is deleted or substituted in the Department's curriculum must be submitted for department approval using QIDP Training Course Content Review Guide (pdf) (IL462-0135) should be submitted to:

Recommended readings are added to the end of each of the modules. These are listed to assist Instructors, Training Coordinators and Trainees in acquiring additional information for various topics in each of the modules. Providers may add any other reading materials that they feel will enhance the training experience. Whether used as recommended reading or required reading is left to the discretion of each agency.

To coincide with the updated information in the curriculum, the QIDP Orientation Training Core Competency Area Checklist (pdf) (IL462-0134) has been modified. This updated checklist contains Informational Competencies for each of the nine modules. As in the past, this checklist should be filed in the QIDP's personnel/training file or other location readily accessible for Department review.

Effective Date

This Training Bulletin will be effective immediately upon release of this Training Bulletin.
