Volume VIII, Issue VIII - January 2015

From: Theodora Binion, Director
Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse

All Medicaid claims must carry an ICD-10 code for reimbursement beginning with services delivered on or after October 1, 2015. To accommodate this change, DASA will be adding a new field in FY 2016 DARTS. Until this change is implemented, DASA services delivered between July 1, 2015 and September 30, 2015, DASA will continue to require the DSM IV codes.

For all DASA services delivered on or after October 1, 2015, DASA will require providers to enter the ICD-10 codes only into DARTS for substance use disorders. This will be required for both DASA contract and Medicaid patients. The ability to enter these codes are optional as of July 1, 2015, but must be used on and after October 1, 2015. In order to ensure that service billings do not reject, providers are encouraged to begin revising the DARTS demographic record of any patient opened prior to October 1, 2015 with anticipated service delivery October 1, 2015 and thereafter.

Additional information regarding this new field will be emailed to providers by April 30, 2015.
