  1. Call to Order 
    Meeting was called to order at 9:37am. 
  2. Roll Call- Chairperson Esther Franco Payne-no quorum.Staff: Karima Douglas, Rob Vickery.Guests- Christine Head, Wesley Epplin, Tiffany Ford, Henrika McCoy, Vanessa Weaver, Keyria Rodgers, Sheri Olowopopo, Alicia Diebold, Sophia Gatton.
  3. Approval of Minutes- No quorum present.
  4. DMC Newsletter
    Karima Douglas presented the month's DMC newsletter on the School to Prison timeline. The newsletter's resources and links to national news stories also focused on school discipline, school based arrests and initiatives geared towards reducing harsh discipline practices for youth of color.
  5. Youth Advisory Board Presentation
    Alicia Diebold from ICOY delivered a presentation on plans for the YAB in FY16. Ms. Diebold has been brought on as a coordinator to run the youth engagement initiative and ensure its forward movement. The presentation focused on the board's mission statement, goals, recruitment strategies, membership responsibilities and proposed activities.
  6. Update: DMC Forum Series
    The DMC forum series planning group discussed updates on the planning process. The first forum in the series is slated for late September-early October. Committee members reviewed early drafts of the agendas for the series in order to pin point focus areas. Keyria Rodgers of the Macon County Juvenile Justice Council suggested following a similar model as that council's community forum series. While this series will focus on issues in Cook County, the Committee expressed an interest in seeing it replicated across the state.
  7. Update: Toolkit/Resource Guide
    Sophia Gatton, ICOY summer intern presented on the DMC toolkit/resource guide. She broke the guide into several manageable sections with a particular focus on action steps different audiences would appreciate. Chairperson Franco-Payne would like to see the resource guide be an action oriented document. Karima Douglas suggested that the resource guide go out at the start of the DMC forum series.
  8. DMC Data Discussion
    Karima Douglas reported that she and Rob Vickery were facilitating conference calls with local juvenile justice councils about self-reported DMC data.
