The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Illinois State University (SBDC) was established in March 2005 to help entrepreneurs start a new business or expand or improve existing business. The Illinois SBDC offers one-on-one confidential counseling for all phases of business activities.

Illinois Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provide information, confidential business guidance, training and other resources to early stage and existing small businesses.
Illinois International Trade Centers (lTC) provide information, counseling and training to existing, new to-export companies interested in pursuing international trade opportunities.
Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC) provide one on-one counseling, technical information, marketing assistance and training to existing businesses that are interested in selling their products and/or services to local, state, or federal government agencies.
Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Specialty (TIES) ten SBDC locations help Illinois businesses, entrepreneurs and citizens to succeed in a changing economy by: developing the skills of their workers; promoting safe and healthy workplaces; assisting in the commercialization of new technologies; and providing access to modernizing technologies and practices.

Consultations
If you haven't owned a business before, we request that you attend our free introductory seminar entitled "Starting Your Business in Illinois." This informative two-hour session covers all the basics: legal structure, business registration, business plans, and financing. After attending the session, participants are welcome to meet one-on-one with a business consultant.
If you're already in business you may begin your Illinois Small Business Development Center experience with a confidential one-on-one meeting with a consultant. Be prepared to receive homework!

Our office is open during regular office hours, but special arrangements can be made for evening appointments if necessary. Appointments can also be scheduled at a client business site upon request.
