The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Rehabilitation Services (DHS/DRS) is now using an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) System for the services you receive through the Home Services Program (HSP). EVV is a timekeeping system that allows your home care worker to use the telephone to "call in" and record the time that your home care worker starts and stops working for you.
The EVV System will be required for everyone providing in home assistance to customers of the HSP to record the time that they work. EVV is also required by Illinois law for all agencies providing in-home services to customers in the Home Services Program. EVV will help ensure that you are receiving the proper services. EVV is free to you and your home care worker, and will not change anything about the services you receive.
It is very important that your home care worker have your permission to use your telephone as soon as he or she arrives to call a toll-free number. Your home care worker will need to use your phone again when he or she stops work. If you do not have a telephone, DHS will work with you to obtain one.
