Objectives |
This course is designed to assist nursing staff and who instruct unlicensed staff in caring for individuals with diabetes. It presents the diabetic pathology and treatment including medications, diet and exercise.
Participants will learn:
- the incidence of diabetes
- diabetic risk factors
- the causes of diabetes
- diabetic pathology
- diabetic complications
- diabetic medication mechanisms
- diabetic diet characteristics
- how exercise can be used to minimize diabetic problems

Education
Credits |
Six (6) hours
Continuing Education Credits are offered for all professional licenses for which the Division of Developmental Disabilities is certified by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to sponsor Continuing Education hours.
QIDPs may also apply this training toward the 12 hours annual continuing education credits requirement.
