IDHS to Host Employment & Resource Fair for Individuals with Disabilities

Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services to showcase services

The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) will host a job and resource fair for individuals with disabilities on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will provide information on community resources, services and information about employers in the Bloomington-Normal area.

"This event will be a wonderful opportunity for job seekers, employers and agencies to come together to share common interests," said Rod Pierce, Supervisor of the Bloomington Division of Rehabilitation Services Office.

The 1st Annual Employment and Resource Fair will held at Heartland Community College in the Community Commons Building, Rooms 1406/1407, 1500 W. Raab Rd., Normal. Information will be available in English, Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL).

A variety of employers and agencies will be participating in the Employment and Resource Fair. Employers will discuss their application process, qualifications for positions and opportunities for employment, mentorship and job shadowing. This is an opportunity for customers with disabilities to meet employers one-on-one and learn about each company. Representatives from a variety of agencies will be available to assist with resources and services that would help individuals with disabilities live more independently.
