Billing Processes for Providers of Behavior Services and Therapy Services

This notice is being sent to remind providers of behavior and other therapy services for the Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) of the primary billing options that are available. See list of the provider services, see the services are on the right-hand side of the page.

Process and Procedure

There are two primary billing options:

  1. A professional who is reimbursed directly as an independent: If you are a professional who is an independent provider who will bill the Department of Human Services directly as the provider or vendor, you will be paid directly by DHS under your own Social Security Number. For details, forms required, etc., please see: . 
  2. A professional who is reimbursed via other means If you are a professional who works for an agency, is part of a group practice, limited liability corporation (LLC), or will have another entity or agency acting as a billing agent and the billing agent will be reimbursed by DHS for your services, you must follow the directions for identifying the other agent.
