Human Rights Committee Chairperson (HRC)

Intended Audience

The HRC curriculum is being revised.  Continue to watch for future updates in 2018. 

Current and new HRC Chairpersons, committee members and Interdisciplinary team members.  Please see details below about preparing for class, dates, time, how to register and cancel, materials needed, continuing education credits (CEs) and Certificate of Attendance.

  • Each community agency is required to send their HRC Chairperson if they have not done so in the past.
  • New HRC Chairpersons are required to attend this training within three (3) months of assuming the HRC chair position.

  • HRC Classroom Curriculum - PRINT AND BRING TO CLASS!
  • You may view curriculum by saving to a laptop, flash drive, iPad, etc. Access to power outlets and Wi-Fi in the classroom is not guaranteed.
Class start & end time Registration: Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. Class starts promptly at 9 am.
  • Training is provided at no cost to participants.
  • Snacks or lunch are not provided.

Objectives Participants will be taught:
  • what a Human Rights Committee is and its function
  • the role and responsibility of the HRC within their agencies
  • HRC's role in preventing abuse and neglect
  • basic rights and rights protection
  • ways to implement strategies to improve HRC efficiency
  • ways to recruit and train new HRC members
  • ways to protect the rights of individuals with DD
Credits (CEs)

You must sign in and out to receive credit for both days.

1 day (6-hour course)

Six hours of Continuing Education Credits are being offered for all professional licenses.

QIDPs may also apply this training toward the 12 hours of continuing education credits requirement.

Presenter Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD)
  • When you complete required Registration Form for a training event, you will be entered into the IDHS OneNet Learning Module system.
  • You will receive a registration confirmation at least two days in advance of the class to the email address listed on the online IDHS OneNet Learning Module Training Registration Form.
Cancel Your
To cancel your registration, please email the Bureau of Quality Management at or (217) 782-9438.
Training Canceled
or Rescheduled
  • The Bureau of Quality Management will notify you by email listed on the online DD OneNet Learning Module Training Event Registration Form at least 24 hours prior to the event.
Certificate of Attendance and Training
  • Upon completion of the HRC training event the IDHS Presenter will provide registrants with a Certificate of Attendance to maintain as documentation of CEs for the training record files.
  • DDD is no longer providing transcripts.
