MR #08.37: Statewide Exemption from the FS Work Requirement

MR #08.37: Statewide Exemption from the FS Work Requirement

Summary:

  • The entire state is exempt from the food stamp work requirement beginning 01/01/09 through 12/31/09.
  • A new 3-year fixed time period begins 01/01/09 and ends 12/31/11, at which time the next 3-year fixed time period begins.
  • The last month posted to the work requirement file is 12/08.
  • Effective 01/01/09, AIS will no longer generate the automated Work Requirement Clearance.
  • Category 08 cases previously exempt from EZ REDE because they lived in a county or city that was nonexempt from the food stamp work requirement will be centrally converted to EZ REDE.
  • Effective 12/15/08, the system will delete the X from Item 36 for category 08 cases residing in the previously nonexempt areas when there is someone age 18 - 49, with no one under 18 in the home.
  • Customers who would have to meet the work requirement if the state was not exempt must still participate and comply with Food Stamp Employment and Training activities where the program operates.
  • Most of the Work Requirement for Food Stamps policy contained in PM 03-25-00 and procedures in WAG 03-25-00 is removed so staff are not confused.
