MR #08.24: Eliminates FS Dependent Care Cap

Summary:

• Effective October 2008, federal law allows food stamp units to deduct the full monthly amount of dependent care costs for a child or disabled adult in the home.
• CN 08.25, Important Notice About Your Dependent Care Expenses, will be mailed to customers on or about 09/05/08 notifying them of the change.
• The notice tells the customer to contact their caseworker to report the amount paid for dependent care.
• Accept the customer's statement of the amount paid as a dependent care expense. No other verification is required.
• Includes a revised manual page inadvertently omitted from MR#08.20, Increase in Food Stamp Standards and Benefit Amounts.
