Curtis Thompson presented on the IITAA at the State Purchasing Officer meetings in Springfield on December 12, 2007 and in Chicago on December 18, 2007.
A meeting with CMS BOSSAP & BCCS to discuss working the IITAA standards in the procurement process is scheduled for Thursday, December 20th.
Discussion
WCAG 2 is open for public comment. We will comment and encourage others to do so as well.
Ron Sanderson announced that CMS is working to add an "ADA" domain to the IT infrastructure process and will identify a domain owner who will determine standard assistive technologies for use within state agencies and can serve as a resource to the agencies.
Where do we stand on the deliverables? The technical requirements are done. We are in-process on our recommendations for procurement language and plan to complete the bulk of this work at our December 20th meeting with CMS. Our recommendations for monitoring, enforcement, and support are very advisory and we will continue to work on them.
How will the end product be delivered? The standards will be published on the web site. Old links to the Illinois Web Accessibility Standards will be redirected, a press release will be issued, and the standards will be listed as a requirement in the procurement process.
Can we make revisions to the standards between February and August, if needed? We need to try to keep the standards stable so that they can be integrated in and not disrupt the procurement process. We will have to plan a revision cycle.
Jon Gunderson recommended that we hold a teleconference with university procurement staff to announce the IITAA standards. He will work with Mike to bring together the people who need to participate in this teleconference.
