PM 22-06-08: Time Limits for Submitting Claims

WAG 22-06-08.

Review all claims to make sure that:

  • The initial claims were submitted within 30 calendar days after the date of death. Claims submitted after 30, but up to 180, calendar days should include a written statement by the claimant explaining the cause for the delay.

NOTE: Grant an exception to this when a claimant was unable to pay within 30 days but provides proof of payment within 180 days after the date of death.

  • Claims returned to the claimant (to complete or correct) are resubmitted within 90 calendar days from the date returned.

Deny an initial claim not submitted within 180 days regardless of the reason for the delay.
