Community Emergency Services and Support Act (CESSA) Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) Region 9 Meeting

February 18th, 2025 - 2:00pm CST via. Zoom

  2. Open Meetings Act
  3. Roll Call- Brenda Perez
    1. Present: Matthew Jordan, Linda Springer, Alyssa Marrero, Amanda Teachout, Chris Harding, Dalila Alegria, Janeth Barba, Karen Bush, Kimberly Mebane, Leonetta Rizzi, Matthew Mannino
  4. Approval of the January 21st minutes

  5. State & Regional Updates
    1. Power Phone pilot kicked off 1/28.
    2. Planning process for Priority Dispatch, met with pilot dispatch sites to review.
    3. 2025 mandatory trainings are open and can be taken at any point throughout the year, they are due by 12/31/25.
    4.  Reappointment letters are being sent to all RAC members as a formality.
    5. Behavioral Health Forum happening 6/11. More information to come.
  6. Old Business
    1. Town Hall Meeting
      1. March 17th at 2pm works for the RAC - will host Town Hall in place of monthly meeting.
    2. Subregional Committees
      1. Committee took the time to come up with a list of potential SRC members around Elgin/Power Phone pilot.
      2. SRCs will be created and will evolve with time and need. They will eventually be disbanded when all of the resources and protocols are in place. This is a temporary time commitment.
      3. Will get an email going with all of the potential members to update them on what being on the SRC would entail. Once we get agreement from potential members, RAC will vote to convene meeting.
    3. Feedback on SAC goal
      1. How can we measure stakeholder understanding of CES
        1. Attendance - to Town Hall & SRC
        2. Survey post Town Hal
        3. Follow up Town Hall later in the year with another survey to measure increased understanding
        4. An increase in calls to 988
      2. 988 & CESSA are two different system
        1. 988 - Suicide Crisis Lin
        2. CESSA is promoting MCRT - want to get the word out that there is a crisis resource in the community that can be used in lieu of Police. This will lead to a better utilization of Agency resources.
  7. Public Comment
    1. SRCs should be broken down by EMS system. Region 9 has 5 different EMS systems, would be a better breakdown without much overlap.
