Program Development Unit

The Program Development unit's function is to support the Division through the administration of three teams, Appeals, PUNS, and Legislative Support.

PUNS

PUNS is a statewide database that records information about individuals with developmental disabilities who are planning for or seeking wavier services. The State uses the data to select individuals for services as funding becomes available, to develop proposals and materials for budgeting, and to plan for future needs.

Appeals

The DD Appeals Unit is responsible for reviewing Appeals per the specific guidelines in Rule 120.110. The Appeals staff reviews documents submitted by ISCs on behalf of individuals/families/guardians who receive or wish to receive DD waiver services. Informal Review determinations are then issued to all parties.

Legislative Support

As Legislative Liaison for the DD the Program Development unit manager also monitors legislation proposals and bills that impact DD and DHS. The unit and support staff is charged with collecting input from leadership and specific subject matter experts (SME) within the Division and submitted position papers on bills introduced in the House and Senate.
