Subject: Food for Thought (And Action)
On April 3rd, the Center for Racial Harmony is offering a somewhat different take on what the subject suggests, i.e., we're offering some food for your thoughts. Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM at Bellecourt Place 120 N. Jackson Street in Belleville. What's it going to cost me, you might ask? The answer is, just a bit of your precious time, and a "piece of your mind." The Healing Illinois Foundation is footing the bill for the food. Even before you come, give this some thought: What's up with all this division? We know that a house divided cannot stand. What can I/we do about it? Isn't there an agency that's supposed to help us bring folks closer together? Racial Harmony is one such agency. The faith-based community is another. Supposedly, our governmental agencies share some responsibility for that also.
Isn't total community well-being one of government's functions? Let's talk about that last one over dinner. Let's try to answer the question, "what can we do individually and collectively to make government a more effective community healing agent?" With those things in mind on the 3rd, bring your appetite and your thinking cap. Oh, by the way, we'll need your RSVP to racialharmonyoffice@gmail.com because we can't just "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner."
