PM 06-39-02-a Applications Selected for Verification of Income

WAG 06-39-02-a

Certain Summer EBT applications will be selected for verification of income. All of the selected applications will be reviewed by Summer EBT unit staff at the Statewide Program Initiatives Office and, if applicable, verification of income will be requested via Summer EBT Income Verification Checklist.

3% Sampling Batch

Starting with the 2025 Summer EBT benefit year, a monthly IES sampling batch will select 3% of Summer EBT applications determined approved via auto processing for Summer EBT. The selected applications will require total household income to be verified or participation in an approved program.

For Cause

For Cause selection means that income information provided on the application conflicts with income information found during the data collection process and further income information is needed. When verifications are required from the household, a Summer EBT Income Verification Checklist is issued to the household allowing 10 days to provide verification of income or income eligibility.

Returned Income Verifications

Income verifications must include:

  • The source of income;
  • The gross amount of income; and
  • The frequency of all income.

If wage stubs are being returned, only one wage stub which includes the required information and indicates eligibility at any single point in time during the Period of Eligibility is acceptable. In place of income verifications, eligibility of a child in a Food, Cash, or federally funded Medicaid (with income at or below 185% FPL) program is sufficient.

Note: Other agency records serving categorically eligible children, including foster, homeless, migrant, Head Start, or runaway children may also be used to verify eligibility.
