Registration
You will find an attached handout "IDHS-SUPR Registration and Cancellation Instructions" with instructions about how to register for the trainings. If you and/or your staff have previously participated in the two-day ASAM, 4th Edition training, we request that you do not register for another ASAM training at this time.
Please ensure staff who register for training are the only staff members participating in the training. To award CEUs, Prevention First must monitor and confirm each staff's participation. Also, the program developer limits the number of participants to monitor and manage participants' active engagement. Given this information, please do not share the confirmation including the registration information with other staff members not registered for the training. Any staff who does not formally register and joins a training will be removed from the training.
Registration will remain open until all training slots are full. In addition, Prevention First will continue to maintain a waiting list. The trainings are free and CEUs will be offered for Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADCs), social workers, and licensed clinical professional counselors.
Prevention First coordinates the CEUs for all trainings and they are responsible for ensuring that participants receive their CEUs following the successful completion of training programs. After each training session, participants will receive an email notification to indicate the availability of their certificate including instructions about how to obtain it. Occasionally, there may be delays-lasting several weeks-before certificates becomes accessible. As soon as Prevention First receives the necessary information to post, certificates will be promptly uploaded and made accessible to participants.
Billing for Participation
As a reminder, IDHS/SUPR funded organizations can bill for participation in these trainings. Staff time spent in an IDHS/SUPR sponsored training can be billed to Community Intervention using activity code 35.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend the training you registered for, IDHS/SUPR highly encourages you to formally cancel your registration as soon as possible prior to the event. For guidance about how to cancel your registration, please see the instructions for how to register. At the end of the handout, you will find step by step instructions about canceling your registration. If you are unable to attend a training the day of the training (e.g., due to illness, or emergency), please contact Prevention First at 1.800.252.8951 extension 123, to let Prevention First staff know that you are unable to attend.
ASAM Resources
SUPR also wants to make you aware of two new ASAM resources. These resources are free and available for treatment organizations.
The Level of Care Assessment is a tool to assist clinicians collect just enough information to make an appropriate level of care recommendation. It also supports level of care recommendations using the Dimensional Admission Criteria. View the Level of Care Assessment tool here.
The ASAM Criteria, 4th Edition Treatment Planning Template guides clinicians in how to use The ASAM Criteria Assessments to collaboratively develop an individualized treatment plan. This form guides clinicians to address the patient's priorities and Dimensional Drivers, as well as potential barriers to transitioning to a less intensive level of care. The template is organized by problem areas and provides structured information on goals, dimensional risk ratings, objectives, and action steps. The template also captures a summary of needed services, transition planning, and safety planning. View ASAM Criteria, 4th Edition Treatment Planning Template here pdf.
IDHS/SUPR hopes that you find the training and resources beneficial when planning for the use of the new ASAM criteria.
