FAQ 444-26-2379-01

Question: I don't see a training NOFO for gambling services. Is this the training NOFO?

Answer: The COE includes all the deliverables of the previous training program, but expands on them to create a true Gambling Disorder Center of Excellence.

Question: Can we use funds in this NOFO for research?

Answer: The NOFO states : "Broker research activities on an annual basis in accordance with GATA requirements... Identify and vet topics and researchers with SUPR prior to brokering or engaging in research activities." Research is an expected deliverable of the NOFO. Research can be conducted internally or by subcontracted third-parties.

Question: Who will review the NOFO applications? Who is the audience we are writing for?

Answer: "The process for evaluation of the application is as follows:_ An internal team of subject matter experts, NOFO trained staff, interns, and others will complete the merit-based review process as outlined in GATA to recommend awardees." Merit-based review team members are expected to be SUPR staff. Some of the team members will not have experience with gambling services.

Question: Can the funds be used to develop an app?

Answer: The NOFO states: "Seek innovative tools and techniques to accomplish the objectives of IDHS/SUPR regarding gambling disorder services and training. Implementation of innovative tools and techniques shall include research into the effectiveness of such items via approved third-parties. Such innovative techniques may include subcontracting or MOUs with organizations or services such as: Gamfin/financial counseling, GamBan/gambling blocking software, etc." App development and implementation is not required by the NOFO, but could be considered an innovative tool or technique.
