CESSA Training and Education Subcommittee - December 17, 2024, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Meeting Minutes - Approved by Members 02/11/2025

The meeting was called to order by Tanya Cooley at 10:31 a.m., who reviewed the OMA procedures, meeting logistics, and agenda.

Roll Call and Motion to approve minutes:

  • Michelle Churchey-Mims motioned to approve minutes from the previous meeting on Nov. 12, 2024. Robert Van Bebber seconded. Motion carried.
  • Members Present:

Old Business: Pilot Training Updates (Dr. Terry Solomon):

  • Dr. Terry Solomon reminded the members about the CESSA legislation training requirements.
  • Dr. Terry Solomon reviewed the CESSA Core Courses for 911,988, and mobile crisis response teams (MCRT) that the Subcommittee approved.
  • Subcommittee members received a demonstration about the pilot training at the previous meeting.
  • The deadline for PowerPhone pilot sites to complete the training is January 31. 2025.
  • Six individuals have requested and received exemptions.
  • 123 unduplicated individuals have completed the training.
    • Mental Health Topics for 988: 14 people completed
    • Mental Health Topics for 9-1-1: 14 people completed
    • Mental Health and/or Substance Use Challenges: 41 people completed
    • Individuals who have Developmental Disability or Autism Spectrum Disorders: 67 people completed
    • The Power and Importance of Language: 74 people completed
    • National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS): 51 people completed
    • Illinois Emergency Crisis System: 64 people total completed
      • 988: three people completed
      • MCRT: 52 people completed
      • 9-1-1/PSAP: nine people completed
  • We do not have a baseline of how many people from each agency are expected to take the courses, so we at the Crisis Hub will request that information from providers.

Discussion:

  • Jessica Gimeno: Will Developing Community Relationships be added to this list?
    • Dr. Terry Solomon: We held the live training for Developing Community Relationships yesterday so it will be available online on-demand by Friday, Dec. 20. When we meet in January, we will add that course to this list.
  • No other questions.
