Illinois Mental Health Planning and Advising Council - Justice Subcommittee Meeting Minutes

Attendance, call to order - Scott called to order at 2:05 pm
Review and approval of minutes from August 15, 2024 - No Quorum
Mental Health and Juvenile Justice Program Update
Shelby Cunningham, Program Manager of Forensic and Community Service Programs, IDHS-DMH, joined the meeting and provided an overview of the MHJJ program. Shelby shared the regional MHJJ provider map and coinciding program contact list.
Cook County Sheriff's Office Mental Health Programming - Cook County Sheriff's Office staff joined the meeting and provided a presentation on the Co-Responder Virtual Assistance and Treatment Response Team Programs. The Treatment Response Team addresses overdose and domestic violence situations. They also work with and train the business community on how to engage patrons and refer to assistance programs. The Co-Response program provides law enforcement officers with access to mental health professionals through a virtual platform. The mental health professionals provide support to individuals involved in emergency assistance calls and assist law enforcement officers to deescalate situations involving mental health and substance use.
Public comments - Jessic Gimeno provided an overview of the Access Living, Mobile Crisis Team event with Preston Looper. A second event is scheduled for October 28th from 11 am - 1 pm.
Scott reported that the AOIC was awarded a SAMHSA Assisted Outpatient Treatment Grant.
