The Emergency Financial Assistance Program will allow Leyden Family Services to provide inpatient detoxification and residential rehabilitation to people experiencing addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. This will include employing a Registered Nurse 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year.
The Start Here Addiction Rehabilitation Education (SHARE) program of Leyden Family Service and Mental Health Center (Leyden) provides inpatient rehabilitation to people suffering with addiction. The number of people experiencing addiction, particularly opiate addiction, skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic. This has led to an increased need for inpatient detoxification programs as well as other addiction services. SHARE is licensed to provide inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation to people experiencing addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Leyden's license requires an RN on staff 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year. The ability to compete with hospitals and other service entities that employ nurses has made it extremely difficult to hire them. Additionally, the training necessary for a nurse to function independently varies as it becomes harder to find nurses with detox experience. To meet this need, Leyden will adequately staff and re-open their detox unit.
