  2. Reminder on Mandatory Trainings (Celeste Johnson)
  3. Membership Vacancies (Celeste Johnson)
    1. Member from an organization that facilitates visitation between incarcerated parents and children
    2. Representative from community-based providers or community organizations that provide services to address the trauma of incarceration through social services, advocacy, or the provision of legal services
    3. Individual who has been directly impacted by policies relating to children of incarcerated parents, one of whom is between the ages of 17 and 24 at the time of appointment.
    4. One individual who has been directly impacted by the Department of Juvenile Justice policies relating to children of incarcerated parents and is between the ages of 17 and 24 at the time of appointment
  4. Reviewing Draft Implementation Plans (Cecilia Ruffin)
    1. #15 Training must be done on a continual basis with support from agency leadership; Van Muschler presented
      1. Jim asked what trainings would be recommended for police on the street basic training 1.5 hour lecture on how to reduce stress and trauma on children when arresting parents
      2. This mandates police inquire about children; are there any children around? are there kids here? then take action
      3. This is not typically included in typical law enforcement training only previously touching on domestic violence
      4. Van has copies of the lesson plan and is willing to share with the group via Celeste
      5. In a previous meeting we addressed the requirement for having someone giving input and hoped to include young people in the creation of the curriculum.
      6. James previously recommended the younger appointment members vacancies if filled could review and modify.
      7. Alexis Mansfield mentioned they work with young adults that would be happy to do a focus group. If we can get the approval from Iletspy??? and have this focus group ... ask some adults who have experience to be a guest lecture in police academy or ECO??? IRRPP can help facilitate the focus group
      8. December 4+5 - quarterly meeting. van will meet with the director and give him and update and next steps. Van will provide an update after.
      9. Michelle grove would be able to speak to the CFS has a youth advisory board that .... provide valuable feedback to DCFS on policy. Michelle Grove will connect with them soon to see if they can review in December. Will provide feedback to van and cecilia.
  5. Discussing Outstanding Implementation Plan Sections -that need review(Celeste Johnson)
    1. #17 Law enforcement policies and procedures for arrests in the presence of children should be publicly available and transparent: Michelle Day, Cecilia Ruffin
    2. #19 Law enforcement should receive extensive training to minimize trauma to parents and children during all interactions. Cecilia Ruffin, Michelle Grove
