Summary
The Voter Registration information text on forms that provide customers with the Illinois Voter Registration Application has been updated with new language.
Introduction
All state offices that provide public assistance and all offices that primarily provide services to persons with disabilities are designated voter registration agencies. An opportunity to register to vote is required with any signed application for assistance at each recertification and when a change of address is reported.
The Voter Registration information text that appears on forms mailed from IES has been updated to clarify for staff and customers which persons qualify as eligible voters.

Updated Voter Registration Information Text
Voter's Registration Information
If you or a family member are a U.S. citizen aged 18 or older and would like to register to vote, you can fill out the attached Illinois Voter Registration Application SBE (R-19) and give it to your Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) office or your local election official. DO NOT fill out the Voter Registration information if you are not a U.S. citizen. For help filling out or for translation services, contact your IDHS Family Community Resource Center. You may also call the Helpline at 1-800-843-6154 or 1-866-324-5553 (for TTY). For information online, see www.dhs.state.il.us or www.elections.il.gov/.
NOTE: You must be a U.S. citizen who is at least 18 years of age to register to vote.
