The Personal Needs Allowance (PNA) is the amount of monthly income a Nursing Home (NH) or Supportive Living Program (SLP) resident is allowed to keep for personal use.

Nursing Home PNA

  • The PNA for a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Provider Type 33 is $60.
  • The PNA for an Intermediate Care Facility/Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID), Provider Type 29 is $60.
  • The PNA for a Medically Complex for the Developmentally Disabled (MC/DD) facility, formerly known as Skilled Nursing Facility/Pediatrics (SNF/PDS), Provider Type 29 is $60.
  • The PNA for a Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility (SMHRF), Provider Type 38 is $60.

Supportive Living Program PNA plus Room and Board

  • The PNA for a person who lives in a SLP setting is $120. 
  • The SLP Room and Board amount depends on whether the person shares a room.
    • For an SLP resident who does not share a room, the Room and Board amount is the SSI rate for a single person.
    • For an SLP couple who share a room, each person's Room and Board amount is half of the SSI rate.
