Section IV. Minimum Stocking Requirements

Authorized vendors must always stock approved items in sufficient varieties and quantities to meet WIC shopper demand. The current Authorized Food List defines specific Illinois WIC-approved varieties, brands, and sizes for the following food categories. Items must be in WIC-approved sizes, brands, etc. The quantities required based on peer group assignment are listed on the Minimum Supply List found in Addendum 3.

A. Variety and Quantity of Stock - Food Categories

Peanut Butter Any type without added ingredients 16-18oz.
Whole Grains Two Types: 100% Whole Wheat bread or buns, Soft Corn or Whole Wheat Tortillas, Oatmeal, Whole Wheat Pasta, Brown Rice, Bulgur Must be 16oz.
Infant Formula Two Types: Enfamil Infant Powder and Enfamil ProSobee Powder 12.5 - 12.9oz
Infant Cereal Two Types 8 or 16oz.
Infant Fruits and Vegetables Plain only 4oz. jars

Please Note: Formula or food items found to be out of date (i.e., past the "use by" date) will not be counted as inventory in surveys of minimum stocking and will be subject to sanction.

If the store's infant formula is kept at a customer service desk, a sign directing customers to the service desk must be placed on the shelf where it would otherwise be located.

Failure to Maintain Required Items

Failure to meet stocking requirements leads to sanctions and/or agreement termination.
