FY23 COVID Mitigation Supplies Project

Dear Providers,

Thank you for your partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). With funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), IDHS is again offering supplies to protect and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in community mental health centers (CMHC) and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery home programs. This project supports the purchase and distribution of COVID-19 abatement supplies and makes them available to Department of Mental Health (DMH) providers and Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (SUPR) funded and/or licensed organizations.

Prevention First, an IDHS/SUPR grantee, will administer this project and serve as the "hub" for organizations to access the COVID-19 abatement supplies using an online ordering system called Shopify, the same online platform used in FY 22.

We invite you to participate in a webinar on Wdnesday, January 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. This webinar will give you the opportunity to learn about the program. ask questions, receive guidance on how to place orders, and get a look at the items available to order.

Supplies include:

  • Diagnostic Testing: Instant COVID-19 self-testing kits (e.g., iHealth COVID-19 test).
  • Personal Protective Equipment: PPE is equipment such as masks and gloves worn to minimize exposure to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases.
  • Sanitation Equipment: Sanitation products such as disinfectant solvents and gloves.
  • Mobile Air Purification Systems: Air purification systems for use in small to mid-sized rooms for those organizations providing in-person group visits/activities.

If you ordered supplies in FY22, you can log into Shopify to order and spend down the new amount allocated to your organization. If you did not place an order in FY22, you can set up a new Shopify account to order supplies during FY23. The FY23 organizational allocation amount is predetermined by IDHS and loaded into your Shopify account. If you need assistance logging in or have questions regarding this project, please contact Prevention First at covidmitigation@prevention.org. The deadline to order FY23 supplies is Friday, June 16, 2023.

When used in tandem with the appropriate vaccinations, these supplies will help reduce the spread of COVID-19, and the spread of the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), various influenza viruses, and other viruses which have been increasing in recent weeks. We encourage you to place an order soon.

We are excited to share this resource with you and appreciate your efforts to maintain a COVID-safe environment as you provide vital behavioral health care for Illinoisans across the state.

Many thanks,

David Albert, PhD

Director, Division of Mental Health
