WRAP: Facilitator Recertification Process

  1. What are the requirements to be recertified?
    1. Individuals must attend 24 hours of WRAP Refreshers in a two-year time frame.
    2. Hours obtained more than two years prior to the current quarter will not be counted toward recertification.

  2. How are recertification hours calculated?
    1. Hours are calculated by WebEx based on the length of time each person attends a Refresher training session.
    2. CEUs hours are based on the actual time recorded by WebEx during which an individual is connected to the training.
  3. How do I figure out how many more hours I need to be recertified?
    1. To identify how many hours you need to recertify, add up your total hours of attendance shown on your CEU certificates and subtract from 24.
    2. Hours obtained more than two years prior to the current quarter will not be counted toward recertification.
  4. 4) If I have not attended WRAP Refreshers in a long time, how do I get my certification back?
    1. Start attending Refreshers again.
    2. Continue attending until you have accumulated 24 hours of CEUs from Refreshers within a 2-year period.
    3. Submit copies of your CEUs by email to DHS.DMHRecoveryservices@illinois.gov or by mail to 111 N. Sixth Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
    4. Your notice of recertification will be sent to you at the email or mailing address you provide
  5. If my certification has expired, can I still facilitate WRAP classes?
    1. Yes, you can still facilitate. However, it is important to contact DMH to obtain instruction on how to remain a Facilitator in good standing if you plan to continue facilitating WRAP.
  6. Can I recertify through the Copeland Center?
    1. Facilitator Refresher training is no longer offered by the Copeland Center.
    2. Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) provides Facilitator Refresher training.

  7. How many Refreshers do I need to attend to be recertified?
    1. DMH offers 5.5 hours of Facilitator Refresher Training by WebEx quarterly. This training is provided in two (2) parts, each of which are 2.75 hours.
    2. A facilitator who attends nine sessions, each of which are 2.75 hours, would obtain 24.75 hours.
    3. CEUs are issued based on the actual length of time you are connected to WebEx. Therefore, the CEU issued to you may not account for the full length of the session.
  8. Can I use CEUs from non-WRAP trainings toward my recertification?
    1. No, only WRAP-specific CEUs count toward recertification.
    2. CRSS/CPRS Training and Recovery & Empowerment Statewide Calls cannot be applied toward WRAP recertification.
  9. Are there options other than DMH WRAP Refresher Training to recertify as a facilitator?
    1. At this time, Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) is the only other provider of WRAP Facilitator Refresher Training. Go to www.wellnessrecoveryactionplan.com for more information.
  10. Why is it important to recertify?
    1. WRAP is an Evidence Based Practice (EBP). In order to maintain fidelity to the EBP, those who facilitate WRAP are expected to continuously refresh and improve their competencies.
    2. One of the values and ethics of WRAP is that "the body of knowledge is always changing." Therefore, Certified WRAP Facilitators must attend Refreshers to stay on top of changes, including changes in language/terminology, new tools, and facilitator skills.
  11. What if I lose track of my documentation for recertification (CEU certificates)?
    1. Facilitators are responsible to track their earned hours and keep copies of CEUs for recertification requirements.
    2. The DMH Bureau of Wellness and Recovery Services retains CEUs for six (6) months from the date of training.
    3. CEUs will not be replaced more than six (6) months after the date of training. For example, you attend training on March 3, 2024. You've lost your CEU, and it's now more than six months later (September 4, 2024). In this situation, DMH will not be able to replace your CEU.
  12. If my certification is expired, how does that affect my recertification date?
    1. If your Certification has expired, the recertification date will reflect the month DMH receives your copies of a minimum of 24 CEUs.
