Persons who received chore and housekeeping services under the AABD program in December 1973, and who have had a continuous need for those services without a break, are considered to have "grandfathered" chore and housekeeping services. Since the
Department no longer provides these types of services under the AABD program, these persons are eligible for medical assistance only and are identified as McMahon cases.
McMahon cases are eligible for medical assistance whether or not they financially qualify for or receive SSI or AABD Cash. These persons must continue to meet the nonfinancial factors of the AABD program.
