PM 11-01-02-b: Excess Shelter Allowance

WAG 11-01-02-b.

An AABD Cash client is eligible for the payment of an excess shelter allowance if it is verified that:

• the client has an infirmity, such as blindness, or needs to use a wheelchair, or is otherwise unable to use stairs; and
• suitable housing to accommodate the infirmity is only available at a price in excess of the maximum allowed.

Prior approval of the Regional Administrator or designee is required to authorize an excess shelter allowance. See WAG 22-05-01 for how to submit a request. The client must continue to meet the requirements and live in the approved arrangement to continue the excess shelter allowance.
