Minutes

I. Welcome

- Brief welcome and meeting housekeeping.

II. Ground Rules and Expectations

  • Reviewed group norms
  • October Minutes: Approval of minutes motion by Amanda Albright, Tracy Cooper second, minutes approved.
  • November Minutes: Approval of minutes motion by Ellen Shwatal, Jen Crick second, minutes approved.

III. Cross State Research Update

- Christy gave an update on the research being done. A draft of recommendations is going to be shared at the January IICEI meeting. These recommendations will then be shared with the workforce workgroup.

IV. CEE Report

  • Chelsea provided overview of the CEE report
  • Discussion of recommendations around the question "Which recommendations feel particularly relevant to our charge?" Topics/issues discussed included:
    • Ideas for reducing/removing barriers for new providers, e.g. credentialing, IMPACT, pilot cohorts/mentoring programs, alternate pathways based on knowledge and skills, pay parity, ongoing support/reflective supervision
    • Incentivizing working in communities that have limited providers, e.g. using cultural brokers, recruiting providers from the community, paying for mileage/parking/cancellations
    • Outreach to providers with 3 to 5 years experience, e.g. work with university alumni associations, use www.bepartofei.org to raise awareness
    • Training needs
    • Ideas for recruiting interpreters

V. Next Steps

- Chelsea and Christy will meet to develop summary document and determine how to answer the 2 questions that were not address at today's meeting:

a. Are there recommendations that you have concerns about?

b. Are there recommendations that you think we should explore more thoroughly? Do you have suggestions for how we do this?

The next Workforce Workgroup meeting will be January 9th, 2024 at 1:00 pm via Zoom.
