The total amount of disbursement to a funeral establishment and cemetery authority, including payments made from other agencies and sources on behalf of the victim cannot exceed $10,300 for the time period between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.
Payments issued by the Department shall be apportioned between the funeral establishment and cemetery authority by those eligible survivors with authority for the disposition of the human remains under the Illinois Disposition of Remains Act.
Payment of services must be made within 30 days of receipt of a timely completed request for disbursement that has been approved for payment by the Department. Payments not issued within 60 days of receipt of a timely completed request that has been approved for payment by the Department shall accrue interest at the rate set by the Illinois Prompt Payment Act.
Note: No payment will be made for any portion of the request that is not substantiated by the funeral establishment and/or cemetery authority.
