RULE 115 UPDATE
The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is thrilled to announce that Rule 115 (59 Illinois Administrative Code 115) has been officially adopted by the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) effective May 31, 2023. The Rule should appear in the June 16, 2023, edition of the Illinois Register. In the coming weeks and months, DDD will be hosting information and training sessions regarding the new Rule to educate stakeholders. Thank you to all stakeholders who have been involved in the process to get us here. We appreciate your participation and partnership!
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR NEW ILLINOIS RESPITE TASK FORCE
In 2021, DDD, in partnership with the Illinois Respite Coalition (IRC), was awarded a federally funded Lifespan Respite Enhancement Grant from the Administration for Community Living. As part of this grant, IDHS DDD and the IRC are creating a quarterly statewide respite task force, called the Illinois Respite Task Force. The Task Force will address caregiver needs and create better coordination and dissemination of statewide respite information and services across the lifespan. While the grant funding extends five fiscal years, the end goal of the grant is to establish policies that will support the continuation of lifespan respite care services now and beyond the scope of this project.
DDD is looking for committed task force members who would be willing to meet on a quarterly basis beginning in July 2023. If you are interested in becoming a member of this Task Force, please complete the informational form linked below.
Ideally, candidates for the Task Force would include caregivers who have utilized respite services, individuals who have a disability and benefited from respite services, and local and state provider agencies with respite experience and knowledge. Priorities for the task force will include discussions about current capacity and additional respite needs across the state, statewide dissemination and coordination of respite care, and respite staffing and training.
Please complete the informational form and return it back to Meg Cooch, DDD, at meg.cooch@illinois.gov, by June 15, 2023.
