FEEDBACK REQUESTED RELATED TO START-UP FUNDS

DDD is reviewing policies related to Start-Up Funds for individuals moving into 24-hour Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs). DDD would like to hear from providers about their use of start-up funding. Specifically, DDD would like to know what individual needs have been addressed through start-up funds as well as what types of expenses providers have had to address directly. Please email meg.cooch@illinois.gov by May 30, 2023.

DDD DSP TRAINING - HELP NEEDED!

DDD, in partnership with the University of Illinois Chicago's Institute on Disability and Human Development, are looking for self-advocates, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), and other professionals to contribute to the new Illinois DSP curriculum. There are opportunities for reviewing written materials as well as creating video content for online curriculum modules. More information on the opportunities is available at tinyurl.com/DSPHelpWanted, and a form for communicating your interest in the different opportunities is available at tinyurl.com/DSPContribute.

INTELLECTABILITY AND HRST UPDATE

DDD has begun the process of matching Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST) and Health Care Level (HCL) information with IntellectAbility. Many providers were given information several months ago on individuals whose basic identity information did not match between the data IntellectAbility and the DDD Rates Unit had on file.

There is a space with IntellectAbility where each CILA agency can enter each person's Social Security Number. The first data match IntellectAbility and DDD undertake is a match on the person's SSN. If there is not a match on the SSN, then, the matching has to resort to the person's First Name, Last Name and Date of Birth. DDD strongly recommends each person's SSN be entered with their data at IntellectAbility.

DDD is also working with IntellectAbility to add each individual's ICAP information through the data IntellectAbility collects. This will help providers by eliminating the need to send updated ICAP information through additional communication as ICAP information will be updated at the same time HCL information is updated in January and July of each year. Please be on the lookout for further information in the near future.

Additionally, it has come to DDD's attention that many agencies are not updating individual HRST information on the required annual basis. To assist agencies in keeping current with expiring HRST information, IntellectAbility sends reminders which can be activated by the agency's rater. DDD strongly recommends each agency's rater activate the reminder system with IntellectAbility. The following are the instructions of how to activate the reminder system.

Agency Rater first has to turn on the form of notification they want.

Once the method of Notification has been set the Agency Rates then selects what they want to be notified about.

The attached link gives a visual of how to follow these steps.
