Summary:

  • The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) payment levels are increased annually in October to 30% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for each family size. TANF Child Only payment levels are 75% of the Adult/Child TANF payment levels.
  • TANF Payments Levels are utilized in processing for both the Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP) and Victims of Trafficking, Torture and Other Serious Crimes (VTTC).
  • TANF payment levels have been increased effective 10/01/2022.
  • The Initial Employment Deduction (IED) amounts are changed effective 10/01/2022.

Due to state law, the Cash payment level for all TANF, VTTC and RRP cases is increased to 30% of the FPL for the TANF family size effective October 1, 2022. TANF grants for child only cases will remain at 75% of a TANF unit of the same size that consists of a caretaker relative with children.

The increases are reflected on 10/01/2022 regular roll TANF payments.

The IED amounts have changed because of the TANF payment level increase.

Computation of Active Cases

The increases are effective for cases active for the October 2022 payment month. IES will compute cash payments, parental liability, sanction, and recoupment amounts based on the new payment levels.

SNAP will also be recomputed because of the increased cash payments.

If the computation using the new payment level causes a decrease in the SNAP, IES will generate Notice of Change (Form 360C) to the customer.
