The meeting was called to order by Katlyn Smith at 11:01 AM

Welcome & Introductions

A brief welcoming exercise was performed.

Approval of Meeting Minutes - January 13, 2022

Motion to approve the January 13, 2022, Meeting Minutes by Niya Kelly, seconded by Dr. Dan Lustig. The Committee unanimously voted to approve.

Appointments / Membership Terms

Katlyn Smith opened discussion surrounding appointments to the Social Services Advisory Council (The Council) and membership terms. There are eleven Council members who have a term that expired January 2022. The committee members decided that expiring members would have the ability to be re-appointed for an additional two years and will vote on the changes to the bylaws during their next meeting.

Discussion: Committees in 2022

Chair Bell opened discussion surrounding the Committees of the SSAC, by covering the charge of The Council. During the next full meeting of The Council, members of IDHS and members of the Council will present regarding goals, priorities, and challenges for their organization, to help inform the work of The Council and committees.

After The Council has met and discussed the priorities, goals, and challenges of the organizations, the Executive Committee will come together to reorganize the committees of The Council, develop committee charges and goals, and set a working plan for the upcoming year. Committee members also discussed the importance of engagement of members in committees, attendance, and setting infrastructure to ensure the committees are successful in the future.

2022 Agenda Topics / Standing Agenda Items

Katlyn Smith opened discussion regarding the February 22, 2022, Council agenda, asking for any additional items for the meeting. The committee discussed adding "workforce crisis" to the following meeting agendas, as a standing agenda item. The committee also discussed having "breakout rooms" where each member of IDHS could lead a room and hear from members of The Council. Chair Bell will also remind members that anyone in The Council can add to the agenda. The committee discussed creating a feedback loop, so members of The Council could submit feedback to the Department, and the Department could respond.

Motion by Debbie Pavick, seconded by Bela Moté to adjourn. The Council unanimously voted to adjourn at 11:50 AM.
