Maywood-Bellwood LAC Meeting Minutes, July 13, 2022

III. Invocation (Harrel)

IV. Approval of Minutes

• Motion to approve was made by member Chief Val Talley and seconded by Pastor John Harrell

V. New business

• Dir. Webber informed the council that Chief Tim Curry would not be able to continue with the council due to other obligations leaving a vacancy on the council.
• Mayor Harvey recommended Bellwood Police Chief Jiminez Allen to fill vacancy. Council unanimously Agreed. Recommendation will be forwarded to IDHS Rep.
• Chief Val Talley raised the Violence Prevention Funding Allocation Worksheet Deadline of July 15th @ 5:00 pm CST. Committee discussed and recommended the following allocations:
  • 20% Street Intervention, Case Management and Victim Services
  • 30% Trauma Informed Behavioral Health Services
  • 20% Youth Intervention Services
  • 30% Youth Development Services
• Pastor Harrell motioned to adopt allocations as introduced. Motion seconded by Chief Val Talley.
• Dir. Webber raised the need for greater awareness of the LAC to encourage greater community participation and engagement. He recommended more visibility in addition to being made available on the IDHS website. Mayor Harvey and Chief Talley agreed to share LAC meeting information with their respective community relations representatives.

VI. Old business

• Mayor Harvey invited members to review Immediate Goals and Timeline of the LAC and Vision Statement and Community Asset Mapping Worksheet by next meeting.
