Patient Education Resources for SUD Services:
SAMHSA funds Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) services in Illinois and across the United States.
SBIRT is an evidence-based approach to identifying and delivering early intervention and treatment to people with alcohol and substance use disorders (SUDs) and those at risk of developing these disorders.
SAMHSA's SBIRT grantees include medical residency agreements, state cooperative agreements, targeted capacity expansion campus screening and brief intervention projects, SBIRT medical professionals training grants, and websites.
If you are working with SUD services in healthcare settings, consider accessing the SAMHSA-funded patient education resources provided free to reproduce through the University of Missouri-Kansas City | School of Nursing and Health Studies at Patient Education - SBIRT for Substance Abuse.
Among many resources, you'll find excellent materials on alcohol, marijuana, opioids, methamphetamines, prescription stimulants, and prescription depressants in English and other languages such as Spanish and Vietnamese. Please maintain or provide the acknowledgement printed on the materials.
Timely Billing Reminder:
As the fiscal year ends, SUPR would like to remind organizations of the importance of timely billing now and throughout the year. This is true for billing both through DARTS and through expense-based vouchers. DARTS services should be submitted at least monthly but can be submitted weekly. Expense-based grant agreement expenditures must be submitted to the organization's Grant Manager, Program Administrator or Project Director as directed.
Monthly Expenditure Payment Vouchers must be submitted through email by the 15th of the month based on the previous month's expenditures using the approved form. All emailed payment vouchers must include a carbon copied to DHS.SUPRVouchers@illinois.gov and the email subject line must include the grant agreement award number.
All expenditures must be consistent with the division approved program budget and can vary by 10% or $1,000, whichever is greater, by budget category. Please note that failure to submit such payments in a timely manner may result in amounts billed to be rendered as unallowable costs, which cannot be reimbursed.
Reminder- FY22 Final Payment & Data Submission:
IDHS/SUPR is issuing this gentle reminder that final FY2022 submissions for billing all non-Medicaid SUPR funded services are due by 5:00pm on August 1, 2022.
For additional information, please see the Smart Alert that was sent in January. Questions concerning this requirement can be directed to the SUPR Help Desk at: DOIT.SUPRHELP@ILLINOIS.GOV
Public Awareness Campaigns:
The Bureau of Prevention Services supports the development of public awareness campaigns to inform the residents of Illinois of several issues. We work closely with Prevention First and their subcontractor on the development and dissemination of the following campaign to raise public awareness of these issues impacting IL residents.
The A Dose of Truth IL campaign informs on the risks of using opioids, the dangers of fentanyl, the high risk for overdose due to fentanyl contamination of the illicit drug supply and counterfeit prescription pills, how to prevent an overdose, the safe use or prescription pain medications, and resources.
The website if chock full of valuable information. Message themes are researched, developed, and promoted every 3-6 months through social media and other platforms targeting specific groups by age, etc. to drive them to the website. This campaign can also be found onFacebook - A Dose Of Truth Illinois | Instagram - A Dose Of Truth Illinois | YouTube - A Dose Of Truth Illinois

Recovery Residences Registry
The IDHS/SUPR Recovery Residence Registry has been moved to the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances to simplify public inquiries for Recovery Residence. Information in the registry helps IDHS/SUPR better understand recovery residences' capacity and support for Medication Assisted Recovery. If you partner with a residence that is not listed, please invite them to register and/or contact Kimberly.Sriner@illinois.gov to list the organization. Search the Recovery Residences Registry at any time
