Springfield LAC Kickoff Meeting Minutes

Objectives: To meet to discuss review of the toolkit, profiles, next steps, and action items.

• How does this data help you start shaping your goals? - N/A
• What additional information do you need to inform your decisions?
  • Need to have local law enforcement on these calls since they are running the programs. Chief Scarlett is new as Chief but is long term serving the area.
    • Work with law enforcement to see what programs have worked in the past. We want to go with successful programs.
    • Gun buyback though crime stoppers.
  • Engage community members and get them involved.
    • Caution against having law enforcement/elected official groups. In order to effectively address gun violence, we will need a diverse group including youth, community members and individuals who are front line workers and non profit organizations who see this all day.
  • Law enforcement and community members from the community that have redeemed themselves.
