via Zoom
Objectives: To meet to discuss review of the toolkit, profiles, next steps, and action items.
- How does this align/not align with what you know about your community?
- How does this data help you start shaping your goals?
- What additional information do you need to inform your decisions?
Members expressed the data profiles showed a death or harm rate of 61% because they get regular updates from our police department that aligns with what we have been informed about. Aligns with data from the health department as well. It was noted as surprised at how young the population was asked, if this was County or city specific data?
Members noted looking at the workforce data. Also noted they would be interested in comparing the data statistics to what they are now, whether things have improved what has changed. Members would like to get updated statistics/ profile and data by racial composition. By race, disability, age ranges and the level of disability at these age ranges as well. It was also noted that it would be interesting to see data from the pandemic, the comparison between the two statistics after before, present and post pandemic. There is a note on the numbers on page 7 that seem low compared to what they have seen in past years. Curious to know the exact numbers. Looking for more granular data by zip code specifically to inform the decisions and what area they are seeing trends and not. National equity atlas is a way to look at different numbers in the community by race, gender etc. EIG.org shows disparities by zip code. It was also noted and inquiry about if this is Peoria city or county data.
Members noted that the data helps to see where you need to make changes, economic issues, education, environment. It is noted that when you start looking at the demographics and gender then you know where we need to really push. Is there a need to have programs for men in a specific age, children, women etc. you can see where the root causes are and where to put resources? It was also noted to get to the root causes of trauma informed care and put the resources into youth and children. Looking at the problems that can be overlayed was also noted.
It was also noted mental health is a big issue, strengthening whatever might be going on in some of the slides. It was noted to research interventions that make sense. Members would like the idea of leaning towards collaboration, it was noted there are a lot of services but not enough collaboration.
