Shelter Care Facilities One-Time Stipend

Summary:

  • The Illinois Department of Human Services through a State Initiative will issue a one-time stipend to Shelter Care Facilities.
  • Shelter Care Facilities may receive a one-time stipend of $1000 per resident that receives cash assistance from the Aid to the Aged, Blind or Disabled (AABD) program. A Shelter Care Facility can receive a one-time stipend up to a maximum amount of $20,000.
  • Applications for the stipend are being mailed to Shelter Care Facilities and will be processed by Central Office 238, Bureau of Local Office Transactions and Support Services (LOTSS). 

IDHS through a State Initiative will issue a one-time stipend to Shelter Care Facilities for the fiscal year 2022. The stipend will be issued for each resident receiving AABD cash assistance residing in a Shelter Care Facility.

One-Time Stipends

A Shelter Care Facility may receive a one-time stipend of $1000 per resident receiving AABD cash assistance up to a maximum amount of $20,000. The stipend will be sent directly to the Shelter Care Facility and does not affect the AABD customer's eligibility.

One-Time Stipend Applications

Central Office 238 LOTSS will mail stipend applications to Shelter Care Facilities. Instructions will be included on the application. Shelter Care Facilities that have questions may inquire to Heather Crone, Bureau Chief, LOTSS dhs.central238@illinois.gov. The application can be returned by either mail or email (see below) to LOTSS.
