NEW IL Helpline Toolkit:
The Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances announced the launch of START MOUD (Support & Toolkits for Advancing Recovery & Treatment through Medications for Opioid Use Disorder). START MOUD provides free resources for Illinois-based clinicians who wish to being treating patients using Buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.

SUPR 2021 Accomplishments:

COVID-19 Mitigation Housing Resource:
A Safe Haven, in partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), can provide a FREE temporary place for individuals testing positive for COVID-19 to quarantine at A Safe Haven's isolation center. You can make referrals to A Safe Haven in REDCap by visiting COVID-19 Temporary Quarantine. In the referral form, please respond to the questions where possible to help ensure patients have access to medication as soon as possible after being transferred.

Cannabis Revenue Updates:
Cannabis Revenue continues to grow in the State of Illinois. The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), and specifically the Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (SUPR) and the Division of Mental Health (DMH), are funding over 20 initiatives and programs across the state with this revenue.
As of December 2021, nearly $70 million dollars in revenue has accrued. Allocation continues to support programs that address mental health and substance use challenges, as well as evaluation of these programs and both information sharing and public education regarding cannabis use.
Some exciting opportunities include a focus on a more robust response to support women re-entering the community following incarceration. This effort is a collaboration between IDHS, the Illinois Department of Corrections, and the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) and anticipated to launch in the second half of Fiscal Year 2022. Other exciting innovations include a focus on establishing a state-wide foundation for the 9-8-8 suicide hotline launch; further expansion of naloxone; and exploration of a community-focused Substance Use Disorder treatment approach.

The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH). The deadline for submissions is January 14th, 2022.

Access Narcan Program:
The Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) aims to reduce the number of opioid overdoses through the expansion of community-based Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution (OEND) services.

COVID-19 Exceptions:
A gentle reminder that COVID-19 exceptions are still in effect and have no expiration date currently. Services delivered through Telehealth are still acceptable.

Recovery Residences Registry
The IDHS/SUPR Recovery Residence Registry has been moved to the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances to streamline searches, rather than looking in a separate place for recovery residence information. Information in the registry helps IDHS/SUPR better understand recovery residences' capacity and support for Medication Assisted Recovery. If you partner with a residence that is not listed, please invite them to register and/or contact Kimberly.Sriner@illinois.gov to list the organization. Search the Recovery Residences Registry at any time.
