HFS certifies providers to process MPE applications. HFS supplies providers with:
- application forms;
- billing forms;
- worksheets; and
- instructions and training.
MPE applications are processed by the HFS Central All Kids Unit except when the pregnant woman wants to apply for Cash and/or SNAP benefits.
Approved MPE providers determine eligibility for MPE based on:
- a medically verified pregnancy;
- gross monthly income; and
- the woman's not having HFS medical program coverage.
The approved MPE provider does not look at any other eligibility factors. The HFS Central All Kids Unit or DHS Family Community Resource Center verifies income and other eligibility requirements during the regular eligibility process when deciding Moms and Babies or TANF eligibility.
Approved MPE providers have 5 workdays after the MPE application date to get the completed application to the HFS Central All Kids Unit or DHS Family Community Resource Center. Providers may fax or mail the MPE application to the HFS Central All Kids Unit or the DHS local office.
If there are continuing problems with a provider meeting the deadline, the DHS Family Community Resource Center should contact their Regional Office and the HFS Central All Kids Unit. The HFS Central All Kids Unit should notify the All Kids Coordinator.
