Presenter Bios
Adam Davies
Adam (they/them) is an intersex, non-binary individual who works as the Program Coordinator for Youth Engagement for the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Lurie Children's Hospital. In their role they facilitate sex education, including trans and intersex specific sex education for Gender and Sexuality Alliances in Illinois. They also facilitate LGBTQ and Gender 101 trainings, and specialized trainings on providing trans inclusive sexual and medical health care for a variety of audiences. For part of their role Adam works in the Sex Development clinic, connecting patients with Differences of Sex Development (or intersex patients) with resources and holding support groups. Adam recently graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor's in Social Policy and Gender Studies and has a research background in education policy for LGBTQ youth. They are passionate about increasing access to healthcare, especially sexual health, for transgender and intersex youth.
Jess Jankowski
Jess (they/them) is a queer, transgender and non-binary person. They received their master's degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. Prior to working as a clinician, they provided direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Jess has been working at JCFS Chicago as a full-time clinician for people with IDD since June 2021, and prior had worked part-time for a different organization as a therapist for the same population.
Linda Sandman
Linda (she/her) is a social worker and Co-Director with Blue Tower Solutions. In addition, she is bilingual (in English and Spanish) and bicultural, as her mother was born and raised in Mexico. Advocating for access to sexuality education for people with disabilities has been an incredibly meaningful part of her work for the past 10 years. In 2017, Linda had the honor of being a project consultant for Proud and Included, where she worked alongside Self-Advocate Ambassadors, like Billy and Eddie who are featured in this Module. Proud and Included worked to build community among individuals with IDD who identified as LGBTQ+ and the larger LGBTQ community.
