Dear colleagues,
As we prepare to celebrate and honor our nation's heroes on Thursday, I want to extend my gratitude, on behalf of all DMH, to those of you who have served in the armed forces. We appreciate your service to our country and your continued service in State government.
Our work is better because you are a part of it. From caring for patients in our State-operated psychiatric hospitals, to maintaining mechanical equipment, processing contracts, and coordinating special programs, you play a vital role in bringing mental health services to those Illinoisans who need them the most. You keep the mental health safety net intact.
I am very proud to share that DMH is doing more than ever to support the mental wellness of Illinois' Veterans. Through initiatives like the Illinois Governor's Challenge to prevent death by suicide among Veterans, and through a growing partnership with the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs we are making a real difference in the lives of Veterans across the state.
Many thanks for all you have contributed to our country and for all you do as a member of the DMH team.
With deep respect,
David Albert, PhD
Director
