A Crisis Assistance payment may be made for:
- rent,
- food,
- clothing,
- household supplies,
- essential household furnishings,
- non-medical needs related to essential medical care (food, lodging, transportation).
When a request for Crisis Assistance is received by the first workday following the date of the crisis, approve assistance starting with the date of the crisis.
When a request for Crisis Assistance is received any day after the first workday following the date of the crisis, approve assistance effective the date of the request.
When approving TANF and Crisis Assistance at the same time, the Crisis Assistance payment may include days prior to the date of approval.
Do not deduct Crisis Assistance payments from future benefit checks. However, if a client receives a Crisis Assistance payment that they are not eligible to receive, an overpayment exists and recoupment may be made from future benefit checks.
