WAG 05-11-05: Medical Expenses

  • Only Supportive Living Facility (SLF) residents who reside in a SLF covered under the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) waiver for SNAP participation qualify for SNAP if all other eligibility factors are met.  See PM 04-05-04, WAG 04-05-04, PM 05-11-02-a, WAG 05-11-02-a.
  • If a resident of a SLF is a qualifying member who receives Medical assistance, the amount of the SLF medical expense is the SLF credit amount. revised manual ttext The SLF credit amount, is entered in the Expense Detail Page of Data Collection.  If the qualifying member chooses actual medical expenses instead of the Standard Medical Deduction, mark the box that asks if the customer wants to use actuals or standard deduction on the Expense Details Page.
  • Allow the Standard Medical Deduction for a resident of a group home or SLF (PM 13-01-05). If the qualifying member chooses actual medical expenses instead of the Standard Medical Deduction,revised manual text IES will add the SLF medical expense to any other allowable medical expense to get the total medical expense to budget for SNAP. Refer to PM 13-01-05-a for a list of other allowable medical expenses.
